Gilead é uma povoação do Iowa onde as gerações se sucedem numa vida aparentemente tranquila, organizada em torno das comunidades religiosas. Em 1956, uma carta que o reverendo John Ames escreve ao seu filho de sete anos, revela a história da comunidade. 

‘Gilead’ é um romance, de 232 páginas, da escritora norte-americana Marilynne Robinson, numa reedição de ‘Ao Meu Filho’ (2006 Difel). A autora, de 77 anos, tem editadas em Portugal as obras ‘Laços de Família’ (2007 Difel), ‘Lila’ (2015 Editorial Presença) e ‘Jack’ (2021 Relógio d’Água).
