Quando a Guerra Fria chega ao Chile, Pablo Neruda, ex-senador comunista e escritor Nobel da Literatura, começa a ser perseguido pelo governo de Gabriel Videla, que decretou em 1948 a Lei Maldita contra os militantes comunistas. O inspector Óscar Peluchonneau é designado para prender o poeta e a sua esposa, a pintora argentina Delia del Carril.
Um drama biográfico do realizador chileno Pablo Larraín, de 38 anos, autor de ‘Tony Manero’ (2008), ‘Post Mortem’ (2010), ‘No - Não’ (2012) e ‘El Club - O Clube’ (2015).
